Duong Lam is an ancient village located near the outskirts of Hanoi. Also known as a museum of laterite, this village is a home to many houses dating back to 400 years ago. What’s special about this village is that most of the buildings here are made of laterite and mud, which are the two materials that are abundant in this area. The village has also been dubbed as the last stronghold of wet rice farming culture in northern Vietnam. The ancient houses are run by families who have lived on and worked on the land for generations. Enjoy hands-on activities such as walking tour, cycling, chatting with locals living in the ancient houses, devouring great local foods supply in tours, and paying a visit to the pagoda. You will be able to stay amongst the locals and see their daily routines being surrounded by breathtaking scenery in a peaceful setting.

    • 8.30am: You will be greeted at the hotel and travel to the west of Hanoi to visit Duong Lam village, a purely agricultural village of the Northern Red River delta where hundred-year-old houses are still preserved. Next, pay a visit to a local house that is almost 400 years old, and then have a bicycle ride around this peaceful rural area to discover the daily life and farming works of Vietnamese peasants. Next, visit the Mia pagoda, which was built in the 15th century. It features 287 statues of all sizes, and some of the famous sculptures are the statue of Buddha in the Himalayas as well as the statues of the Eight Vajra Deities. Enjoy authentic local food in an ancient house afterwards.
    • Walk around the village to learn more about the daily lives of the locals in the afternoon. It’s a unique experience as you walk along tiny ancient alleys where they still preserve many hundred-year-old houses. Depart from Duong Lam village and drive back to Hanoi at around 4pm to wrap up the unforgettable tour in Vietnam.
