Kuala Lumpur
Head to the Petronas Twin Towers first, a spectacular sight of 88 floors. Ride up the elevators to the observation deck on the 86th floor for a breathtaking view of the bright lights down below.

Then make your way to Bukit Bintang, the shopping district of Kuala Lumpur. New shopping malls have popped up over the years and feature well-known international brands, although wholesale clothing stores selling K-pop inspired fashion and other youthful and trendy items are bountiful here too. The malls are also a great place to hang out at during snoozy afternoons. Grab a bite at specialty cafes or catch the latest movies for a fraction of the price in Singapore.

Kuala Lumpur isn't all city. Right in KL is the Forest Research Institute of Malaysia, a thriving rainforest that is the base station for local scientists. Take a walk among leafy giants on a canopy walkway, suspended 30m from the ground, or stay close to the ground for family bonding activities such as waterfall hunting, camping and jogging.

End off your day in KL by heading to Petaling Street, the Chinatown of KL. The long street is a pedestrian market of sorts, where locals peddle anything and everything, including dubious copies of movie DVDs and designer inspired apparel and accessories. The street is almost famous for having some of the best Chinese cuisine under its prominent "Green Dragon" roof.
