Kyushu, Japan’s third largest island, is located on the southwest end & consists of the mainland and a chain of small, sub-tropical islands. The region is made up of seven prefectures: Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, Kumamoto, Miyazaki and Kagoshima. Gigantic caldera volcanoes line up against each another, the island is well-known for its wide number of hot springs (onsen), isolated islands and characteristics coastlines.
Each area in Kyushu has its own characteristic and unique local food dishes. What’s more, its relative affordable cost of living has attracted many tourists to visit. Visitors are able to leverage on the Kyushu Shinkansen line which allows one to travel around Kyushu very conveniently.
